About Annalie
Hi there,
Welcome!
I’m Annalie, a self-taught artist living and painting in the peaceful town of Hopefield in the Western Cape, South Africa. I grew up in Oranjemund, Namibia, a beautiful desert town where wildlife often wandered close to home. That early connection to nature and stillness has stayed with me and continues to shape the way I see the world.
Before becoming more fully devoted to my art, I worked for 13 years at a social services organization and also taught computer studies in the evenings. Life has taken me along a winding path, and painting has become one of the deepest sources of comfort, healing, and joy in my life. It gives me a way to slow down, reflect, and express what words sometimes cannot.
I painted my first artwork in 2009, but only in recent years did I begin painting more earnestly and consistently, allowing myself the time and space to grow. My work is rooted in gratitude, strength, and joy, and I am especially drawn to florals. Through expressive brushwork, palette knife texture, and rich colour, I try to capture the feeling of a flower, not just how it looks, but the emotion it carries.
When I’m at my easel, I love listening to country music, drinking coffee, and sharing the studio with Peanut, my sweet Maltese poodle. I also have a soft spot for winter, misty weather, chocolate with whole nuts, and crime documentaries. I even enjoy making polymer clay jewellery when I want to create something a little different.
I hope my paintings bring warmth, energy, and a sense of quiet strength into your space. Thank you for being here, and I hope you find a piece that speaks to you.
