About Annalie
Hello,
I'm Annalie Lamprecht, and I am a self-taught artist from South Africa. Born in 1967, I grew up in the beautiful desert town of Oranjemund, Namibia, and now live in the peaceful town of Hopefield in the Western Cape, South Africa.
While I painted my first artwork in 2009, it was only in recent years that I began painting earnestly, honing my skills through consistent practice and exploration.
I believe that being an artist requires both hard work and trust in one's own creative path. My work is rooted in gratitude, strength, and joy, as painting has become a meaningful way for me to navigate life and bring light and mindfulness into my days.
My recent work focuses mainly on florals, although I sometimes venture into other art styles. I draw inspiration from the expressive beauty of flowers and the emotions they evoke.
Using primarily acrylic on canvas or hardboard (I love the intense colors and fast drying time), I create contemporary floral paintings by layering textured brushstrokes (mostly with a palette knife) and incorporating rich colors to express movement, emotion, and the fleeting beauty of each bloom. I paint what I see, what the flower is to me, and I want viewers to experience what a flower can be — not just fragile, but also resilient.
I love this quote by Salvador Dali, a Spanish artist: “Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.”
Through my work, I aim to create imperfect paintings that bring warmth, energy, and a sense of quiet strength into your space.
